Falco's History

Although the location has remained the same for over 80 years, for the Falco family, change is the most important part of business. In the early 1900’s, Guiseppe “Joseph” Falco immigrated to the United States from Italy and settled in the Spokane Valley.  Soon after, he opened a fruit and vegetable stand along Sprague Avenue and customers were so impressed with the quality of his produce that they began asking Joe to carry the trees and plants from which the produce was grown.  To meet customer requests, the produce shop became a full fledged nursery and garden center.  When Joe’s son, and eventually his grandson joined the business, the garden center had added a Christmas Shop, landscaping business and in the early 1980’s, Falco’s evolved into one of the first retail hearth and fireplace shops in the Inland Northwest.  “Being able to change, and offer product based on what our customers are asking for is very important,” says third generation Louie Falco, who along with his wife Kristi own the business.  “We have always tried to stay at the forefront of our industry by offering innovative, quality products while serving our community with honesty, integrity, reliability and the best in customer service.”

As big box stores jumped into the retail market, Falco’s looked to the future with a move that took them right back to where they had started.  The decision was made to move away from nursery items and expand their successful and growing hearth and home business.  In 2004, a new store and showroom was constructed on the same Sprague Avenue property where Guiseppe Falco had carefully displayed apples, watermelon and squash decades earlier.  This 5,500 square foot showroom features the latest in eco-efficient heating solutions including wood, pellet and gas stoves, fireplaces and inserts from industry leading manufacturers as well as all of your HVAC needs.  With alternative fuels playing a vital role in today’s earth friendly society, Falco’s carries several stove models that can burn corn, sunflower seeds and wheat along with traditional wood pellets. Falco’s offers free in-home installation estimates for heating and HVAC and they employ their own installation crews.

Along with home heating solutions, Falco’s can show you the secret to mouth-watering grilling with the largest selection of pellet, charcoal and gas BBQs and grills in the area.  Outdoor patio furniture, gazebos & fire pits also make a grand appearance in the Spokane Valley showroom so you can try before you buy.

With the 4th Generation of Falco family now poised to take the company into the future, change and product diversity continues to be an important direction.  The newest endeavor involves residential solar energy.   While many changes have taken place at Falco’s over the years, one thing has remained the same-the desire to exceed customer expectations.
